Many businesses have been beat up by the global pandemic that has dominated 2020. Mandated shutdowns forced businesses to close their doors and many were unable to weather the storm. While some chose to defy government-ordered closure, the vast majority went along with the demands. The results have been damaging to many and catastrophic to some.

The global pandemic has led to lay offs, losses, and, in many cases, permanent closures. It’s led many people to reconsider their career path.

Are you still working?

If you’ve worked consistently through this crisis with little or no interruption to your livelihood, you’re one of the lucky ones.

Some industries have been more vulnerable than others to this season, with the most obvious example of difficulty and vulnerability being the food and entertainment industry. Even long-established restaurants weren’t immune to the damage of a blacked-out economy. Many were forced to close their doors permanently as a result of the months-long hiatus from business. Theaters, art centers, and recreation establishments have been equally impacted. That has had a rippling effect across our country, with implications to both our national (and global) economy and to individuals and families needing to make ends meet.

Are you needing to work?

The financial services industry that we’re a part of at Viking Client Services is as recession-proof as you can get. Obviously none of us are unaffected by the surrounding crisis, and the challenges of our economy are effecting people across industries. But there are industries and positions out there that are not feeling the sting of this season nearly as severely as others. And some of these jobs do not have prohibitive barriers to entry.

In the midst of the global pandemic and uncertain economic conditions...

there are still jobs, companies, and industries that are moving full-steam ahead. As you consider your job situation and the trajectory you’re setting for the next chapter of your professional career, consider moving toward something more recession-proof than what you’ve had in the past. Not all industries are as vulnerable to such difficult times.

At Viking Client Services, the work we’re doing is as essential as ever. Find a position in payment services, insurance subrogation, or debt recovery and collection. Our pay is competitive, our opportunities rewarding, and our future is bright.
